When you can contact thousands of people with the click of a mouse and you know what they are interested in, you can literally “create money on demand”. You don’t have to do any product creation, you don’t have to pay to generate sales… all you have to do is tell these people “I like this”, why they will probably like it too and you will have money pumping into your bank account within minutes!
But how do you build a targeted list of subscribers who will follow your recommendations?
It’s not just about being able to email people, it’s about how they see you when you do. There are many ways of building a list, but only a few that help you build a quality list. A list of people who recognize YOU when you contact them, even look forward to hearing from you again.
Forget safelists, FFA pages and viral list builders. Such programs are mostly a waste of time. When people join a web site to get permission to email other members, none of the members actually read the emails. Even if they do, with offer after offer in their inbox, how likely are they to see yours?
To build a list of responsive subscribers who will read and respond to your emails, you have to build your list yourself. Your subscribers have to recognise YOU and opt-in to receive information from YOU because they want to, not because they get to email everyone else at the site too.
So how do you actually get people to sign up to receive more information from you? To “join your list” as it where?
It’s easy! A lot easier than you may think!
Write an e-book on a topic they are interested in, and give it away for free if they subscribe to your list…
Typical Scenario (Product names are fictitious)
Joe has a problem with moles in his garden. He woke up one morning to find the lawn that he so lovingly attends to every week, the lawn that everyone comments on as they pass his house, the lawn that that you could normally play crown green bowling on, pock-marked all over with mole hills!
Joe has heard that moles can be very difficult to deal with and some products available can harm the environment and damage lawns. In a bit of a panic he quickly boots up his computer and types “Moles on my beautiful lawn” into Google…
After a bit of searching, mostly websites wanting to sell him “mole-sterminate” a product he has heard can be harmful to the environment, he comes to your site. Offering your free book “How to Solve Your Mole Problem Without Harming The Environment”.
Joe reads the sales copy and gets to the subscribe form. It says “Privacy: We will never pass your email address to anyone”. Confidently Joe enters his name and email address and clicks subscribe.
He reads your book, tests your methods and it works! 3 weeks later the lawn is back to normal, and he remembers forever that it’s you who helped him.
You know Joe loves his lawn, his mole problem has gone now, so you cannot sell him anything “mole related”, but when you tell him about this new fertilizer you have started using, Joe laps it up and starts buying it every month. When you tell Joe, that you have purchased a new lawn mower that trims the grass at least 1/16″ closer, he wants one too. Every time Joe buys something on your recommendation and is happy with it, he is more likely to buy on your recommendation again. You have become his “lawn expert” and he follows your every word.
Joe could be a typical subscriber to your list, you could have thousands of Joe’s or Jane’s all avidly reading your next email on how to improve their lawn and buying every product you tell them is worth using.
When you build your list though e-books that solve common problems for your target market, as long your books contain solid information that helps the reader, you will instantly become an “Expert” in their eyes. You wrote a book on the subject, you must be! The word Authority comes from author!
There is nothing more powerful than positioning yourself as an expert that having someone read your book!
People trust the recommendations of experts.
It’s the trust your subscribers have for you that is important!
